Marketers are constantly looking for ways to add new contacts to their email lists. While paying for lists or adding old records was once a viable practice, things are changing and it’s only getting more difficult to bring in fresh contacts. So how DO you grow your email marketing list? Here I’ve listed out a few ideas to keep your list growing.
Only Distribute Amazing Emails
It all starts with the content. If your emails are subpar, no one is going to want to receive them. You want your emails to be enticing. Subscribers should look forward to getting that content in their inbox each week. They should be willing to share with their friends or tell them to sign up as well.

Reach Out to Old Prospects
Times have changed and so have regulations regarding email marketing. While you may have received some form of consent from a prospect years ago, that may no longer be considered consent in today’s marketing age. Running an opt-in or re-permission campaign can be a great way to remind people of your business. And who knows – they may not have needed your support then, but might need it now.
Build a Landing Page
Create a landing page with one simple call-to-action – to sign up for your email list. You can run ads from social media or Google to the landing page, include it in your email signature or add links to it in your blog posts.

Add Links to Your Social Media Profiles
Twitter cards, Facebook CTA buttons and LinkedIn About sections are a great place to get people to sign up for your newsletter. If someone is following along on your social media profiles, chances are they are interested in the content you are putting out there.
Create Gated Content or Offers
One of the easiest ways to capture a user’s email is by offering them something. Create a free white paper and add the offer to a landing page where visitors can sign up for your mailing list to receive the offer. Some other ideas of what you can offer visitors are demos, ebooks, webinars or guides. If it provides value, it can be turned into an offer.

Use Forms and Pop-Ups
Adding a simple newsletter signup form to your footer or a pop-up is also a great way to grow your email marketing list. Depending on the program you’re using, pop-ups can be customized to only appear after a certain number of visits to your site or after a certain amount of time a user has been on your site. This customization can be effective without annoying or bombarding the user.
A combination of these can help to grow your email list – but it definitely can be a lot of work. That’s where we can help. Fill out a form and we’ll be in touch.
