With most of our team being from San Francisco or the Bay Area, we have participated in many holiday popups and traditions around the city. There is so much to do and see that sometimes it can be hard to decide what’s worth skipping and what’s a must-see. Here we share our favorite San Francisco holiday traditions to help put you in the holiday spirit:
Gingerbread House at Fairmont Hotel
For as long as we can remember, after Thanksgiving, the Fairmont transforms into a magical, holiday destination in San Francisco. Each year after Thanksgiving, the hotel’s lobby is transformed into a two-story, life-size gingerbread house for tourists and locals to celebrate the holiday season. What many people don’t know, is that the gingerbread house is actually edible!
When visiting, be sure to check their Gingerbread Holiday Tea and Santa Suite schedules for an extra sweet treat!
SF SPCA Holiday Windows
Whether or not you’re planning on adding a furry friend to the family this year, visiting the Macy’s Holiday Windows in Union Square is a must-do for anyone in the area! Throughout the holiday season, the San Francisco SPCA brings in adoptable puppies and kittens to Macy’s decorated windows. Donations can be made at the windows and you never know – you may meet a friend you never knew you needed!
Beach Blanket Babylon
Beach Blanket Babylon is a popular musical revue in North Beach that is enjoyed by San Francisco residents and tourists year round. Their seasonal extravaganza features outlandish costumes, over-the-top hats, and will have the whole family laughing all night long. If you can’t go over the holidays, we highly recommend attending one of their other shows during the year.
